Laura Sherman
Research Assistant

Laura found Video Intervention/Prevention Assessment (VIA) during an internship search when she was an undergraduate at Tufts University. Having greatly enjoyed the research she conducted through Tufts, Laura was looking to broaden her research experience. Because of her interest in Psychology and Public Health and her childhood experience with acute asthma, Laura was drawn to VIA’s innovative research and could not wait to be a part of this project.

Laura works as a Research Assistant for Jennifer Patashnick, the VIA Analysis Coordinator. She uses NVivo to analyze the VIA transcripts created from the video data and continues to perfect the logging process in Transana. As she watches the video and analyzes its content, Laura is continually amazed by what insightful information the participants have to share and how much they can teach us about living with illness. She hopes that her work can allow the participants’ voices to be heard and that in the near future, society will better understand the illnesses which VIA has studied. In her free time, Laura enjoys rowing and baking.
